Coro Sinf\u00f3nico Lisboa Cantat<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

The Coro Sinf\u00f3nico Lisboa Cantat (CSLC) was founded in 1977 under the name Coral Caminhos Novos and later renamed Coral Lisboa Cantat. It is one of the choirs of the Associa\u00e7\u00e3o Musical Lisboa Cantat. Over the years, under the direction of Jo\u00e3o Valeriano, Paulo Brand\u00e3o, Rui de Matos and, since 1986, Jorge Carvalho Alves, the choir has deliberately expanded, ultimately achieving its current symphonic formation of around 80 members. Not only has it contributed to the promotion of Portuguese classical music, regularly premiering works by contemporary Portuguese composers, but with this expanded formation, it is able to embrace great challenges, performing demanding repertoires in collaboration with various conductors and orchestras. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

On a national level, it has collaborated with the Orquestra Metropolitana de Lisboa, Orquestra Filarm\u00f3nica Portuguesa and Orquestra Sinfonietta de Lisboa, as well as with the Orquestra Cl\u00e1ssica de Espinho, Orquestra Cl\u00e1ssica do Centro, Orquestra Cl\u00e1ssica do Sul, Orquestra de C\u00e2mara da GNR, Orquestra de C\u00e2mara de Cascais e Oeiras, Orquestra do Norte, Orquestra Nacional do Porto, Orquestra Sinf\u00f3nica Juvenil, Orquestra Sinf\u00f3nica Portuguesa and Orquestra XXI. Among its international collaborations, the choir has performed with the Orquestra Filarmonia de Madrid (Spain), the Timisoara Orchestra (Romania), the Warsaw Symphony Orchestra (Poland) and the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra (England).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Portugal, it has had the privilege of performing in some of the country\u2019s most prestigious concert halls, theatres and churches: Aula Magna of the University of Lisbon, Basilica of Estrela, Casa da M\u00fasica do Porto, Culturgest Main Auditorium, Gulbenkian Foundation Main and Small Auditoriums, CCB Main and Small Auditoriums, S. Francisco Church (Porto), S\u00e3o Roque Church, Alcoba\u00e7a Monastery, Jer\u00f3nimos Monastery, Royal Basilica of Mafra, Lisbon Cathedral, S\u00e9 Nova in Coimbra, Trindade Theatre, S\u00e3o Carlos National Theatre, among many others. It was an associate choir of CCB in the 2010\/2011 season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The vast and eclectic repertoire performed over the years includes great works of sacred and secular a cappella<\/em> choral music, spanning from the Renaissance to contemporary compositions, with forays into the world of opera and musical theatre, encompassing more than fifty major works for choir and orchestra. Notable performances include the Requiem Masses of G. Verdi, W. A. Mozart, G. Faur\u00e9, J. Brahms, M. Durufl\u00e9 and E. Carrapatoso (world premiere), the Messa di Gloria<\/em> by G. Puccini, the Nelson Mass<\/em>, Theresienmesse<\/em>, The Seasons<\/em> and The Creation<\/em> by J. Haydn, Stabat Mater<\/em> and Petite Messe Solennelle<\/em> by G. Rossini, Carmina Burana<\/em> by C. Orff, Symphonies No. 2, No. 3 and No. 8 by G. Mahler, St. John Passion<\/em>, Christmas Oratorio<\/em> and Easter Oratorio<\/em> by J. S. Bach, Symphony No. 2 by F. Mendelssohn, A Sea Symphony<\/em> by V. Williams, Messiah<\/em> by G. F. H\u00e4ndel, Cantata Verbum Caro<\/em> and Orat\u00f3ria<\/em> Popular<\/em> by N. C\u00f4rte-Real (symphonic version premiere and world premiere, respectively), Great Mass in C minor<\/em> and Vesperae<\/em> Solennes de Confessore<\/em> by W. A. Mozart, October<\/em> Cantata <\/em>by S. Prokofiev (Portuguese premiere), Cantata para un Silencio<\/em> by D. Schvetz (world premiere), L\u2019Enfance<\/em> du Christ<\/em> and Romeo and Juliet<\/em> by H. Berlioz, Missa Solemnis<\/em> and Symphony No. 9 by L. v. Beethoven, 1812 Overture<\/em> by S. Rachmaninoff, The Planets<\/em> by G. Holst, Missa Solene em Honra de N.\u00aa Sr.\u00aa de F\u00e1tima<\/em> by Manuel Faria and Joaquim dos Santos. The choir has also participated in productions of L\u2019Elisir<\/em> d\u2019Amore<\/em> by G. Donizetti and The Phantom of the Opera<\/em> by A. L. Webber.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The quality of its concert performances owes much to the conductors, both national and international, who have led the choir: Adrian Leaper, Antonio Pirolli, Ant\u00f3nio Vassalo Louren\u00e7o, Brian Schembri, Ces\u00e1rio Costa, Christopher Bochmann, Dinis Sousa, Dmitri Jurowsky, Donato Renzetti, Enrico Onofri, Giampaolo Vessella, Hans-Christoph Rademann, Jo\u00e3o Paulo Santos, Jos\u00e9 Cura, Jos\u00e9 Ferreira Lobo, Laurent Petit-Girard, Leonardo Garc\u00eda Alarc\u00f3n, Manuel Ivo Cruz, Marc Tardue, Martin Andr\u00e9, Michael Zilm, Miguel Gra\u00e7a Moura, Nicholas Kraemer, Olivier Cuendet, Osvaldo Ferreira, Pedro Amaral, Pedro Carneiro, Pedro Neves, Rui Pinheiro, Theodor Guschlbauer, Vasco Pearce de Azevedo and Zolt\u00e1n Pesk\u00f3.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It has partnered with the Choir of the S. Carlos National Theatre for performances of Verdi\u2019s Requiem<\/em>, Sch\u00f6nberg\u2019s G\u00fcrrelieder<\/em>, Liszt\u2019s Faust Symphony<\/em> and Mahler\u2019s Symphony No. 8, and with the Gulbenkian Choir for Sch\u00f6nberg\u2019s G\u00fcrrelieder<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to its strong symphonic focus, CSLC also works on a cappella<\/em> repertoire, both national and international. It is committed to the promotion and dissemination of Portuguese music and composers and, in this context, has been recording the complete a cappella<\/em> choral works of Fernando Lopes-Gra\u00e7a, as well as harmonizations written by Portuguese composers from the 20th and 21st centuries.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Associa\u00e7\u00e3o Musical Lisboa Cantat (AMLC) is a non-profit cultural association that pursues musical, social, and recreational objectives. Its mission is to promote and disseminate musical culture to the general public in collaboration with professional and amateur musicians from both Portugal and abroad. This activity serves as the foundation for the human and social cohesion of its approximately 180 members, fostering a spirit of camaraderie and shared experiences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

AMLC began its activities in 1977 under the name Coral Caminhos Novos, becoming in 1983 Coral Lisboa Cantat \u2014 a name it retained until 2007. That year, following the creation of two distinct ensembles \u2014 a symphonic choir (Coro Sinf\u00f3nico Lisboa Cantat), inheriting the legacy of Coral Lisboa Cantat, and a chamber choir (Coro de C\u00e2mara Lisboa Cantat) \u2014 its statutes were revised, and it was renamed Associa\u00e7\u00e3o Musical Lisboa Cantat. Over the past 40+ years, it has been a founding member of the Association of Amateur Choirs of the Lisbon Area (ACAAL) and is also affiliated with the International Federation of Choral Music (IFCM).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Al\u00e9m de continuar a promover os dois agrupamentos em atividade h\u00e1 mais tempo, o Coro Sinf\u00f3nico Lisboa Cantat e o Coro de C\u00e2mara Lisboa Cantat, a AMLC quer agora consolidar os mais recentes: o Coro Infantil Lisboa Cantat, a Academia Vocal Lisboa Cantat, e o Coro Juvenil Lisboa Cantat, que se foram juntando ao longo dos anos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This diversity of ensembles allows AMLC to position itself as an association dedicated to the human voice and the teaching and refinement of the art of singing. It aims to provide opportunities for individuals at all stages of their musical journey \u2014 from young children to mature singers, from experienced performers to beginners \u2014 ensuring that each member can find a space for artistic enjoyment and vocal development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A major highlight of AMLC\u2019s work is its ambitious project to contribute to the appreciation of Portuguese music, both past and present. AMLC is undertaking a comprehensive recording project of the complete a cappella choral works of Fernando Lopes-Gra\u00e7a, while also showcasing his influence on contemporary composers. As part of this effort, it has already recorded four volumes in the collection \"Compositores Portugueses xx\u2013xxi<\/span>\", as well as two volumes in the collection \"Fernando Lopes-Gra\u00e7a \u2013 Obra Coral a cappella\".<\/p>\n\n\n\n
