Manteigas Summer Music Festival

In a unique setting in Portugal, right in the heart of the Serra da Estrela, the town of Manteigas will host the first edition of the Summer Music Festival, organized by Coro Sinfónico Lisboa Cantat.

Between August 16 and 23, choral music lovers will have the opportunity to rehearse and perform a diverse repertoire in a relaxed environment. The program includes 19th-century German music, Portuguese regional songs arranged by various composers, and the famous secular cantata Carmina Burana by Carl Orff.

Throughout the week, participants will also benefit from vocal technique workshops and a variety of leisure activities, including mountain hikes, refreshing dips in the Zêzere River, and visits to the most iconic sites of the charming town of Manteigas.

The technical team includes German soprano and conductor Sarah Behrendt, Portuguese conductor Jorge Carvalho Alves, and pianist Joana Barata. The festival will also feature the Orchestra of the Guarda Music Festival, conducted by maestro Osvaldo Ferreira, running concurrently in the city of Guarda.

This extraordinary event promises an unforgettable week for all participants, bringing a cultural embassy to the heart of Portugal. Concerts will take place throughout the week, culminating in two major performances of Carmina Burana on August 22 in Manteigas and August 23 in Guarda.
