Brodsky Trio

Piano, violin and cello trio

Formed in 2020, the "Brodsky Trio" has already achieved global recognition with numerous recordings and concert tours. The engagements include performances at the Berlin Philharmonic Hall, the Zurich Tonhalle, the Baden-Baden Festspielhaus, the Ankara Presidential Concert Hall and the Atatürk Concert Hall.

The name of the trio is derived from Kirill Troussov's violin "The Brodsky", a Stradivarius from 1702, which was the instrument on which violinist Adolph Brodsky performed the world premiere of Tchaikovsky's violin concerto, on the 4th of December 1881. The cellist Benedict Kloeckner, who runs his own festival in Germany, and the sibling duo Troussov & Troussova are not only great friends but also exude incredible energy during their performances.

Cellist

Benedict Kloeckner is one of the most outstanding cellists of his generation. A prizewinner of numerous international competitions, he was awarded the OPUS Klassik 2021. 

He performs as a soloist with prestigious orchestras such as the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra of London, the Deutsche Radiophilharmonie, NDR Radiophilharmonie, Mozarteum Orchester Salzburg, the Kremerata Baltica, the MDR Symphony Orchestra and the Munich Chamber Orchestra. 

His career has led him to collaborate with renowned conductors, including Daniel Barenboim, Christoph Eschenbach, Michael Sanderling, Ingo Metzmacher, Vladimir Fedoseyev, Cristian Măcelaru and Sir Simon Rattle.

He has performed in prestigious concert halls such as the Berlin Philharmonie, Carnegie Hall in New York, the Kennedy Center in Washington, Suntory Hall Tokyo, the Musikverein in Vienna, the Tonhalle in Zurich and the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam.

Benedict Kloeckner is also a regular guest at international festivals, sharing the stage with artists such as Emanuel Ax, Lisa Batiashvili, Gidon Kremer and Anne-Sophie Mutter.

For over 10 years, he has been artistic director of the Koblenz International Music Festival, IMUKO, which he founded. He opens the 2024-2025 season with Haydn's Cello Concerto under the direction of Raphaël Merlin and will perform with Augustin Dumay, Lawrence Power and Leon Botstein.

He will make his Budapest debut with András Keller and Janos Balasz at the Liszt Academy, and will return to the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg and Concertgebouw Amsterdam 2025.

His latest album Dvořák, recorded with Cristian Măcelaru, the Romanian Chamber Orchestra and Danae Dörken, was released by Berlin Classics in 2024 and has already collected over 600,000 streams. The Strad magazine praises Benedict Kloeckner's "addictive and sensual tone", while Gramophone magazine highlights the "architectural sensibility of Cristian Macelaru and Benedict Kloeckner".

A new recording of the Elgar Cello Concerto with Cristian Macelaru will be released in 2026.

In 2023, his recording of the Brahms Sonatas with Yu Kosuge was released by Sony.

His discography also includes the complete Bach Suites, which he has performed at the Berlin Philharmonie and the Alte Oper Frankfurt. His recordings have been acclaimed by the press and have won awards such as the OPUS Klassik Award and the Supersonic Award.

Benedict Kloeckner will perform Brahms' Double Concerto at the Cologne Philharmonie with Kirill Troussov under Gabriel Bebeselea, as well as Dvořák's Cello Concerto at Rotterdam De Doelen under Conrad van Alphen in 2025. He will tour with Shostakovich's Concerto No. 1 under Oscar Jockel and will perform Tan Dun's "Crouching Tiger" Concerto under the composer's baton.

He collaborates closely with contemporary composers and has premiered several works, including those by Wolfgang Rihm, Eun Hwa Cho, Eric Tanguy and Dai Fujikura. He presented the Austrian premiere of Fujikura's Cello Concerto with Mozarteum Orchester Salzburg and the world premiere of Eun Hwa Cho's Cello Concerto under Christoph Poppen at Seoul Arts Center.

Benedict Kloeckner received his training at the Karlsruhe University of Music with Martin Ostertag and at the Kronberg Academy with Frans Helmerson and Gary Hoffman.

Benedict Kloeckner is a Professor at the École Normale de Musique Paris from September 2025.

He plays on the cello "Ex Maurice Gendron" by Francesco Ruggeri (1680), which is generously made available to him.

Kirill Troussov

Supported and guided by Sir Yehudi Menuhin at a young age, Kirill Troussov is now widely recognised as one of the leading violinists of his generation. Kirill Troussov is a regular guest at prestigious concert halls and renowned international music festivals, all over the world.

His collaboration with celebrated conductors such as Sir Neville Marriner, Vladimir Fedoseyev, Daniele Gatti, Lawrence Foster, Jiri Belohlàvek, Michail Jurowski, David Stern, Christoph Poppen, Vladimir Spivakov, Mikko Frank and Louis Langrée as well as with major orchestras such as the Staatskapelle Berlin, Leipzig Gewandhaus, Orchestre de Paris, Orchestre National de Lyon, Orchestre National de France, Radio Orchestra of Hessischer Rundfunk, Radio Symphony Orchestra of Baden-Baden, Munich Philharmonic Orchestra and Bamberg Symphony Orchestra has brought him, among others, to Tonhalle Zürich, Berliner Philharmonie, Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Palais des Beaux Arts Brüssel, Théâtre du Châtelet, Théâtre des Champs Elysées, De Doelen, NCPA in Beijing, Suntory Hall in Tokyo, Auditorio Nacional de Musica in Madrid, Verbier Festival, Schleswig-Holstein Festival and Menuhin Festival Gstaad.

His passion for chamber music and friendship connect Kirill Troussov with artists like Sol Gabetta, Yuja Wang, Daniel Hope, Joshua Bell, Gautier und Renaud Capucon, Yuri Bashmet, Mischa Maisky, Elisabeth Leonskaja, Julian Rachlin, Christian Zacharias and Natalia Gutman.

His substitution for Gidon Kremer in Paris, the Asia Tour with the Verbier Festival Chamber Orchestra, his spectacular performance at the BBC Proms and his activity as jury member at international competitions — among others at the Schoenfeld International String Competition — are just some of numerous highlights of his past concert seasons.

His international awards include the European cultural award "Pro-Europa", the Davidoff-Prize of the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival, the international Yamaha Prize and the Reuters-Prize of the Verbier Festival.

Kirill Troussov regularly gives master classes at the Mozarteum Salzburg, Colburn School Los Angeles, Beijing and Nanjing Central Conservatory, European Music Institute Vienna, in Cremona, Milan, Madrid, Dublin, Berlin, Munich, Oslo, Budapest, USA, Hong Kong and Japan.

Since 2021 he is chairman and artistic director of the Hong Kong International Young Musicians Competition as well as vice president and artistic director of the Carl Flesch Competition in Hungary.

Kirill Troussov's CD-recordings — among others by EMI-Classics, Warner Classics, Dabringhaus & Grimm, Naxos and Farao Classics — have been repeatedly awarded and highly praised by the international press.

Since 2023 the label Orchid Classics has been releasing the series "Kirill Troussov Live", where over 40 of his celebrated live concert performances will be available on all audio-streaming platforms. Meanwhile this series has reached 2.5 million streams.

In 2024 Kirill Troussov founded the Sarasate Academy in Madrid (Spain) and the Engers Academy near Frankfurt (Germany). Furthermore he became artistic Aavisor of the international Music Festival Kaposfest in Hungary and artistic director of the international Music Festival Ammerseerenade near Munich in Germany.

Kirill Troussov completed his studies with Zakhar Bron and Christoph Poppen. His mentors have been Igor Oistrach, Herman Krebbers und Sir Yehudi Menuhin.

Kirill Troussov plays the Antonio Stradivari violin "Brodsky" of 1702, on which violinist Adolph Brodsky performed the world premiere of Tchaikovsky's violin concerto, on December 4, 1881.


Alexandra Troussova

In the course of her international career Alexandra Troussova has worked with conductors such as Lorin Maazel, Sir Neville Marriner, Antoni Witt, Volker Schmidt-Gertenbach, Walter Weller, Gerd Albrecht, Joseph Suk, Kaspar Zendner, Arie van Beek, Wolfgang Gönnenwein and Michel Tilkin.

Her successful performances brought her to renowned concert halls such as the Konzerthaus Berlin, Prinzregententheater München, Kurhaus Wiesbaden, Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Théâtre du Châtelet, Théâtre des Champs Elysées, Auditorium du Louvre in  Paris, Opéra de Lyon, Tonhalle Zürich, Gulbenkian Foundation Lisbon, Opéra de Monte Carlo, Conservatoire Royal de Bruxelles and Auditorio Nacional de Musica in Madrid.

She is regularly invited to prestigious international music festivals, among others to the Verbier Festival, Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival, Festival Carinthischer Sommer, Saint-Denis Festival, Festival La Folle Journée, Festival de Musique de Sully, Festival Piano aux Jacobins, Festival Piano à Auxerre, Festival Saint-Riquier, Festival Septembre musical, Florilegio Musical Salmantino, Al Bustan Festival, Festival de Lanaudière, Ludwigsburger Schlossfestspielen and Klavierfestival Ruhr.

As a chamber musician she collaborates with a variety of artists including Frans Helmerson, Sarah Chang, Alexander Knjasev, David Guerrier, Benedict Kloeckner and Nils Mönkemeyer.

Alexandra Troussova is celebrating worldwide success in the Duo with her brother,  the violinist Kirill Troussov. Both living in Munich, the siblings are recognized as one of the few Siblings-Duos of world class calibre. Their common recordings – among others for EMI Classics – have been widely hailed by the international press and given many international awards.

The  recent CDs “Emotions” (Dabringhaus und Grimm) and “Memories” (Dabringaus und Grimm) of the Siblings-Duo, have been internationally praised,  among others by “Süddeutsche Zeitung” in Germany and the French music magazine “Diapason”.

She studied with James Tocco, Dimitri Bashkirov, Vadim Suchanov and Alfredo Perl.

Numerous radio recordings and television broadcasts in Germany, France, Belgium and USA show Alexandra Troussova’s pianistic versatility.
