A graduate of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama (Gulbenkian Foundation scholar), he has performed roles including Tamino (Die Zauberflöte), Ernesto (Don Pasquale), Anthony (Sweeney Todd), the Duke (Rigoletto), Tristan (Le vin herbé), Die Hexe (Hänsel und Gretel), Gilvaz (As Guerras de Alecrim e Manjerona), Governor (Candide), Ferrando (Così fan tutte), Prunier (La rondine), Arbace (Idomeneo), Tybalt (Roméo et Juliette), Almaviva (Il barbiere di Siviglia), Acis (Acis and Galatea), Male Chorus (The Rape of Lucretia), Aegisth (Elektra), Don Ottavio (Don Giovanni), Nemorino (L’elisir d’amore), Arturo (Lucia di Lammermoor), Count Alberto (L’occasione fa il ladro), Alfred (Die Fledermaus) and Gherardo (Gianni Schicchi), among many others.
In concert, he has distinguished himself as the Récitant in L’Enfance du Christ, as the Evangelist in Bach’s Christmas Oratorio, Easter Oratorio, Ascension Oratorio and St John Passion, as well as in Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9, Handel’s Messiah, Rossini’s Petite Messe Solennelle, Mozart’s Requiem and Coronation Mass, Britten’s Serenade for Tenor, Horn and Strings and War Requiem, Fauré’s La Bonne Chanson, Bruckner’s Te Deum, Orff’s Carmina Burana, and Bach’s Magnificat and St John Passion. He has also performed the role of Ferrando (Così fan tutte) and the tenor arias from Bach’s St Matthew Passion with the Gulbenkian Foundation, among many other works.
