
Luís Carlos Neves Serra
Maestro da Filarmónica Popular Manteiguense – Música Nova
Born in the parish of São Pedro, Manteigas, on November 29, 1982, he began his musical journey in November 1993 at the Music School of Filarmónica Popular Manteiguense – Música Nova (FPM-MN), studying under conductor José Pereira Dias.
In October 2001, he attended the Band Conducting Course organized by INATEL, where he studied under Francisco Ferreira and José Pedro Figueiredo. By 2003, he was appointed Assistant Conductor of FPM-MN.
He graduated in 2004 with a degree in Music Education from the Escola Superior de Educação da Guarda. That same year, he founded the "Música Nova" Wind Orchestra, taking on the role of Conductor.
Since the 2004/2005 academic year, he has been the coordinator and instructor at the FPM-MN Music School.
He also attended various Young Musicians' Courses promoted by INATEL and studied at the Pedro Álvares Cabral Music School in Belmonte.
From 2007 to 2013, he was a member of the Portuguese Air Force Band.
During the 2007/2008 academic year, he pursued a Master’s Degree in Wind Orchestra Conducting at the PIAGET Institute in Almada, where he worked with renowned conductors such as André Granjo, Alberto Roque, Délio Gonçalves, Mitchel Fenell, and Félix Hauswirth.
